In our spare time, we like to also cook BBQ!!! Competition BBQ is a far cry from the world of catering but it is an amazing way to develop skills and push the boundaries of cooking BBQ.
SMOKE IN BROKE 2019 – BBQ COMPETITION
Smoke in Broke was our first competition for 2019 and was held over the June Long Weekend. This was our third ever competition so we were so pumped when we snagged our first trophy, which was for the SCA (Steak Cook-off Association) category of Margaritas!!
Also in the SCA competition we bagged a 4th place for Tacos!!
Sunday we competed in the Australian BBQ Association (ABA) event where we managed a 4th place in the Brisket Category!!! This was by far our favourite milestone competing against the best in Australia!! The team that won travelled all the way from Melbourne and scored their 3rd Grand Champion overall so we were so pleased with our placing!!
The brisket that we used was the amazing 2GR 9+ score Full Blood Wagyu Brisket. The marble throughout the meat is incredible and the end product just melted with an incredible buttery taste. We are lucky enough to be able to source this through Savage International out of Tamworth.
BRISBANE BBQ FESTIVAL 2019 – BBQ COMPETITION
WE WON BRISKET!! Brisbane BBQ Festival was our 4th comp ever and we took out Brisket and it was COOL!!! There were 40 teams that were battling it out for top spot on the leader board and while we didn’t walk away with GC, first place in Brisket will do.
